Winter is coming.

Whether we like it or not, summer is over, fall is here, and soon, winter will be upon us along with icy sidewalks. So, to prepare for the slick walkways that pretty much border our homes and places of business, we must prepare those surfaces to avoid a serious fall.

So, how can we get our concrete walkway ready for the iciest months of the year? It’s simple.

First, patch up or fill in any holes or cracks. It one thing slip on the ice, but tripping on a raised crack or stepping into a hole is a nasty way to twist and ankle.

Second, sweep up any debris. Having a clean, debris-free walkway will lower the pedestrian’s chances of slipping and hurting themself. Ice can stick to various surfaces and textures. Falling because of a frozen newspaper is a bad way to hurt yourself.

Thirdly, you can seal your concrete surfaces. Sealing your walkways will prevent moisture from soaking in and causing a sheet of ice from forming. You can apply a good acrylic sealer that will at you for the winter season.
